Terms of Use

App: QR & Barcode Scanner Home Effective date: September 10, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the QR & Barcode Scanner Home application (the "App") and form an agreement between you and its developer ("we", "us", "our"). Downloading, installing, or using the App means you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the App.

1. What the App Does

The App reads QR codes and barcodes through your camera or from pictures in your gallery, keeps a local history of what has been scanned, and offers a home-screen launcher that lists the apps installed on your device for quick access. Scanning and launcher processing both happen on the device.

2. Who May Use the App

The App may be used from 13 years of age, or from the higher minimum age the law of your region sets. Anyone under 18 should use it with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on their behalf.

3. Acceptance and Changes

Using the App constitutes acceptance of these Terms. They may be revised from time to time; the version in force, with its effective date, is always published on this page, and continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance of that revision. If a revision does not suit you, the remedy available is to stop using the App.

4. Lawful Use

The App must be used only for lawful purposes. You must not use it to break any law or regulation, to interfere with its operation or with any connected system, to attempt unauthorised access, or to decompile or reverse engineer any part of it. You are responsible for how you use what the App decodes.

5. Scanned Codes and Links — Important

A QR code or barcode is created by whoever printed or displayed it, not by us. It can contain a website address, a payment request, a Wi-Fi credential, or any other instruction, and it can be tampered with or replaced by a third party. The App decodes what the camera sees and shows the result; it does not verify that a code is authentic, safe, or trustworthy, and it does not check where a link leads. Before opening a link, making a payment, or acting on anything a scan produces, satisfy yourself that the source is genuine. Any loss arising from acting on a scanned code is not our responsibility.

6. Your Data and Your Controls

Scan history and launcher preferences are stored on your device and remain under your control: individual scans or the entire history can be cleared inside the App, permissions can be revoked in Android's settings, and uninstalling the App removes its local data. How information is handled is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Permissions

Features depend on permissions you grant — camera for scanning, media access for scanning from the gallery, notifications for optional reminders, a foreground service for reliable operation, and app-visibility access for the launcher. Each may be withdrawn at any time in Android's settings, in which case the feature relying on it stops working until it is restored.

8. Advertising and Third-Party Services

The App is free and supported by advertising delivered by third-party networks such as Google AdMob, and it uses Firebase for analytics and crash reporting. Any dealing between you and an advertiser is a matter between the two of you; we accept no responsibility for advertising content or for goods and services promoted through it.

9. Intellectual Property

The App's code, design, graphics, and other materials originating with us remain our property and are protected by intellectual property law. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for private, non-commercial purposes. Copying, modifying, redistributing, selling, or reverse engineering the App is not permitted without our written consent. Whatever you scan or store remains yours.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is supplied "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that scanning will always succeed or be accurate, that every code type or damaged code will be readable, that the launcher will list every app on every device, that operation will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of scan history, financial loss following action taken on a scanned code, loss of profit, or device malfunction — arising from use of the App or any inability to use it, even where the possibility of such damage was made known to us.

12. Privacy

Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Using the App means accepting the practices described there.

13. Termination

You may end your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or withdraw access, or modify or discontinue features, without prior notice where these Terms are breached, where the law obliges us, or where continuing to provide the App would create legal or operational risk. Provisions that by their nature survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability — remain in force.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

Please contact us first at the address below; nearly everything can be settled informally. Where informal resolution fails, the dispute is determined under applicable law by the competent courts of the place in which the defendant is located, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

15. General

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in full effect. A decision not to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
