Privacy Policy

App: QR & Barcode Scanner Home Effective date: September 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the developer of QR & Barcode Scanner Home ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the application (the "App"). The App scans QR codes and barcodes with your camera or from images in your gallery, keeps a history of what you scanned, and provides a home-screen launcher for quick access to the apps installed on your device. Installing or using the App means you accept the practices set out below; if they do not suit you, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect and Process

  • Scan results and history — the content of the codes you scan, saved as a history list. This is written to your device's own storage. Scan content is never uploaded to our servers.
  • Camera input — the camera preview is processed in real time on the device solely to decode a code in view. Frames are not recorded, not stored, and not transmitted.
  • Images you choose to scan — a picture you select from the gallery is read on the device to decode any code inside it, and is not copied anywhere else.
  • Installed application list — read locally so the launcher can show your apps. This list never leaves the device.
  • Technical and usage data — device model, Android version, App version, language, approximate region derived from IP address, advertising identifier, screen views and feature-usage events, crash logs, and performance metrics.

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location, and we do not sell any information.

2. Permissions We Request

Permission Purpose
CAMERA Scanning QR codes and barcodes in real time
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES Decoding codes from pictures you pick from the gallery
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Optional reminders and App notices
FOREGROUND_SERVICE Running visible features reliably
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES / app visibility Listing installed apps so the launcher can display them
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Loading advertising, analytics, and opening links you choose to open

Nothing is requested before the feature that needs it is used, and every permission can be withdrawn in Android's settings — the dependent feature simply pauses until it is granted again.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we rely on: consent (personalised advertising and optional permissions such as camera or notifications); performance of the service you requested (scanning, history, launcher); our legitimate interests (stability, security, and improvement of the App); and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Use Information

Information is used to operate the scanner, the history list, and the launcher; to keep the App stable and diagnose crashes; to understand aggregate usage so features can be improved; and to display and measure advertising. It is not used for any other purpose, and it is never sold or rented.

5. Sharing of Information

Data is shared only with the service providers named in this policy, and only as far as they need it to do their job. We may also disclose information where the law requires it or where it is reasonably necessary to prevent fraud or abuse. Your scan history and your installed-app list are never shared with anyone.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Google Firebase — analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting
  • Google AdMob — advertising

Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read; we do not control how these providers process data.

7. Advertising

The App is free and supported by advertising delivered by Google AdMob. Ad networks may use your advertising identifier and comparable technical signals to select advertisements, including personalised ones where the law permits. Android's settings let you reset or delete the advertising identifier and switch ad personalisation off at any time.

Google explains its use of data in advertising at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

8. International Data Transfers

The providers named above may process information on servers located outside your country. Where the law requires it, such transfers are made under appropriate safeguards.

9. Data Retention

Scan history and launcher preferences remain on your device for exactly as long as you keep them — clearing history inside the App, clearing App data, or uninstalling removes them. Analytics and crash data are retained according to each provider's own settings.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You may clear individual scans or the whole history at any time, revoke any permission in Android's settings, disable ad personalisation, or uninstall the App. Users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland may additionally request access to, correction of, erasure of, or restriction of their personal data, withdraw consent, and complain to a Data Protection Authority. Residents of several US states hold comparable rights, including opting out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Write to us to exercise any of these.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13, or under the age applicable in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Anything received in error is deleted once identified. Parents and guardians with a concern may contact us at the address below.

12. Security

Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards protect what the App processes, and the design keeps scan content and the installed-app list on the device rather than on a server. Even so, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

13. A Note on Scanned Codes

A QR code or barcode can contain a link, a payment request, or other instructions created by whoever produced it. The App decodes what it sees and shows it to you; it does not verify that a code is safe or genuine. Please check any address or request before acting on it.

14. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The version in force, together with its effective date, is always published on this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of it.
