App: Phone Dialer: Calls & Contacts

This Privacy Policy is issued by the developer of Phone Dialer: Calls & Contacts ("we", "us", "our") and sets out how information is treated when the application (the "App") is used. The App is a dialer with a built-in contact organiser: it rings out, answers incoming calls, keeps your contacts arranged, records what you have called, puts a name to an unknown caller, and filters out numbers you do not wish to hear from. Installing the App, or continuing with it, signals your acceptance of the practices below. If they are not acceptable to you, please do not install the App.

1. Information Involved

Subject to the permissions you grant, four kinds of information are involved:

  • Contact entries. Names and telephone numbers already on the handset, used to fill the contact list and to match an incoming number to somebody you know.
  • Call records. Call log entries along with the numbers of calls made and received, used for the history views and for caller identification.
  • Blocked and reported numbers. Kept together with a device identifier so that filtering keeps working between sessions.
  • Technical and diagnostic data. Handset make and model, Android release, App build, language, device identifiers, aggregate feature-use counts, crash traces and performance logs.

Contact entries and call records are processed on the handset. Neither is sold, and neither is disclosed to anybody beyond the providers named in this policy.

2. Permissions and Their Function

  • Contacts (read and write) — displaying, creating, amending and arranging the contact list.
  • Phone (CALL_PHONE, READ_PHONE_STATE) — initiating calls and detecting an active call.
  • Call Log — constructing the call history and recent-call views.
  • Notifications — announcing incoming calls and blocked-call activity.

Nothing is requested before the feature that requires it. Any permission can be revoked in Android's settings, after which the dependent feature is suspended until granted again.

3. Purposes of Processing

Information is processed for these ends alone: providing contact management, dialling, call history, caller identification and blocking; keeping the spam filter effective; preserving stability and correcting faults; measuring aggregate usage to guide development; presenting advertising to users on the free tier; and activating and restoring subscriptions. Personal information is never sold or rented.

4. Advertising

Advertising is shown to users who have not subscribed and comes from third-party networks, Google AdMob among them. Those networks may read the handset advertising identifier and comparable technical signals so as to decide which advertisement to display, personalised where the law permits it. Android's settings allow that identifier to be reset or removed and personalisation switched off at any point. For as long as a subscription remains active, the App displays no advertising.

5. Subscriptions and Payment Data

An optional subscription removes advertising and unlocks the premium functionality. Payment is administered entirely by the Google Play billing system. Card numbers, billing addresses and equivalent particulars are received and held by Google under Google's own privacy policy and never reach us at any stage. What comes to us is an anonymous purchase token, used exclusively to enable the subscription and to restore it after a reinstallation or a change of handset. Purchase records are retained only for the period prescribed by tax and accounting law.

6. Third-Party Components

The App incorporates Google Play Services; Firebase for analytics and crash reporting; Google AdMob for advertising; and Google Play billing for subscription payments. Each is governed by its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to consult. How those providers process data is determined by them and not by us.

7. Security

Appropriate technical and organisational safeguards are applied to the information the App processes. Notwithstanding those measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission can properly be called entirely secure, and absolute security therefore cannot be guaranteed.

8. Controls You Retain

At any time you may grant or withdraw permissions in Android's settings, amend or delete contact entries, clear the call history, release a blocked number, disable ad personalisation, or uninstall the App — uninstallation removing the data it held locally on the handset.

9. Minors

The App is not directed at persons under 13 years of age, or under 16 in regions whose law sets that threshold, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children. Anything of that nature received in error is deleted once identified. A subscription entered into by a minor is valid only where a parent or legal guardian consented in advance; enabling purchase authentication within Google Play prevents charges completing on a child's handset without an adult's approval. 10. Rights Under Regional Law

Persons in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland hold rights of access, rectification, erasure and restriction over their personal data, together with the right to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with a Data Protection Authority. Residents of several United States jurisdictions enjoy comparable entitlements, including the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Correspondence to the address below suffices to exercise any such right.

11. Deletion of Data

Using the App requires no account. Contact entries, call history and block lists reside on the handset and are removed when deleted within the App or when the App is uninstalled. Should you wish anything retained by us to be erased, write to us and the request will be actioned within a reasonable period.

12. Amendment

This policy may be amended from time to time. The version currently operative, bearing its effective date, is invariably the one published on this page, and continued use following an amendment constitutes acceptance of it.
